Alam Semula Jadi

Protective Buffer
The Earth's atmosphere is more than just the air we breathe. It's also a buffer that keeps us from being peppered by meteorites, a screen against deadly radiation, and the reason radio waves can be bounced for long distances around the planet.
The air that accomplishes all of this is composed of five major layers.
The lowest is the troposphere, which is the layer that provides most of our weather. It contains about four-fifths of the Earth's air, but extends only to a height of about 11 miles (17 kilometers) at the Equator and somewhat less at the Poles.
The name comes from a Greek word that refers to mixing. And mixing is exactly what happens within the troposphere, as warm air rises to form clouds, rain falls, and winds stir the lands below. Typically, the higher you go in the troposphere, the colder it gets.
Above the troposphere is the stratosphere. It extends to a height of about 30 miles (50 kilometers) and includes the ozone layer, which blocks much of the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays.
The stratosphere is warmer than the troposphere because of the energy from the ultraviolet light absorbed by the ozone. At its base, the stratosphere is extremely cold, about -110 degrees Fahrenheit (-80 degrees Celsius). At its top, the temperature has risen back nearly to freezing.
Next comes the mesosphere. In this layer, the air temperature drops again, down to nearly -180 degrees Fahrenheit (-120 degrees Celsius) at the top. Meteors generally burn up in the mesosphere, which extends to a height of about 52 miles (85 kilometers). This is why the Earth's surface isn't pocked with meteor craters, like the moon's.
Entering Outer Space
Above the mesosphere is the ionosphere. It extends to about 430 miles (690 kilometers) and is so thin it's generally considered part of outer space. The International Space Station and many satellites orbit within the ionosphere.
The ionosphere is named for the ions created within this layer by energetic particles from sunlight and outer space. These ions create an electrical layer that reflects radio waves, allowing radio messages to be sent across oceans in the days before communication satellites. Electrical displays in the ionosphere also create the auroras called the Northern and Southern Lights.
Beyond the ionosphere lies the exosphere. This tenuous portion of the Earth's atmosphere extends outward until it interacts with the solar wind. Solar storms compress the exosphere. When the sun is tranquil, this layer extends further outward. Its top ranges from 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) to 6,214 miles (10,000 kilometers) above the surface, where it merges with interplanetary space.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008[4] (often shortened to WWE SvR 2008 or SvR '08), is a professional wrestling video game developed by YUKE's Future Media Creators and released on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS video game consoles by THQ in November 2007.[5] Amaze Entertainment oversaw development for the Nintendo DS version.[6]
The game is the ninth edition of the long-running WWE SmackDown vs. Raw video game series based on the professional wrestling promotion World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It is the sequel to 2006's WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, succeeded by WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, and is the first SmackDown game to include the promotion's ECW brand.[7] It is also the first WWE game to be available for all seventh generation game consoles.

Each wrestler now has two fighting style categories, one primary and one secondary. Each fighting style has its advantages and disadvantages in each particular match type.[8] There are eight styles altogether: high-flyer, hardcore, submission artist, powerhouse, showman, brawler, dirty and technical.[9] [8] In addition, creative manager of THQ Cory Ledesma stated early in production that he planned on having numerous wrestler animations redone.[8]
A new "struggle submission system" has been introduced, incorporating more analog control into the game. The player executing the submission can now decide how much pressure is applied by moving the analog stick in a particular direction. Similarly, the player locked in a submission hold will have to power out also by using the analog stick.[8]
The game features the revived ECW brand, and it takes its place alongside the established Raw and SmackDown! brands. The official box art features the ECW logo prominently. The game's ECW branding has expanded the number of weapons available under the ring during gameplay. New weapons such as guitars are available and tables and barbed wire bats can be set on fire.[10] Despite the inclusion of the brand, the video game franchise will keep its SmackDown! vs. Raw name, although an early logo included "ECW Invasion" in the title. It has been changed, however, to "Featuring ECW" [11]
The game features several arenas that WWE held events at in 2006 and 2007. There are also arenas based on each WWE television show.

Elijah Burke making his ring entrance this is Burke's first appearance in a WWE game.
The game allows several different game modes to be played, each with different goals and options. The Season and General Manager Modes of previous games have been merged into the new "WWE 24/7" mode, which takes its name from WWE's video on demand service. Players can choose to play one of the game's included superstars or create a superstar, or as a general manager of one of the brand. Playing as a wrestler, the goal is to take that wrestler and achieve "legend" status. In order to do so, the player has to win matches, team with and feud with other wrestlers, and gain popularity. At the same time, they must choose whether to train, exercise, relax, or take part in other activities when not wrestling, all with their own positive and negative effects.
Playing as a general manager is similar to the previous General Manager modes in the series, in which one has to choose a brand and act as its General Manager (Jonathan Coachman for Raw, Theodore Long for SmackDown!, Tommy Dreamer for ECW), draft a roster and make decisions to make it the most popular brand of the three. The General Manager is allowed to make staffing decisions, schedule workouts and events.[12] There is also an all-new Tournament Mode, which allows the player to control a superstar through the various stages of the WWE tournament, such as Beat The Clock Sprint and King of the Ring, as well as Money in the Bank tournament. The game also allows you to create your own tournament. (This is featured only on the PlayStation 2, Playstation Portable, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii.) Like previous games in the series, the game also allows players to challenge for and defend championships.[13] The game includes championships used by the WWE in 2007, bringing back the branded championships from the previous game and for the first time, the ECW Championship.

SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 features actual superstars from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where, like in WWE, they are sorted by an assigned brand; Raw, ECW, SmackDown!, and the Legends program. Unlike previous editions of the game, the rosters vary according to the platform. The game also has fewer superstars than its predecessors. Many wrestlers are not present in the DS version. However, all versions features many returning characters like Triple H, Kane, Rey Mysterio, and The Undertaker. and Jeff Hardy

KISAH MAT REMPIT

SYNOPSIS
Mat Rempit may still become useful citizens I FONDLY remember a very naughty and mischievous kid in the class next to mine during my secondary school days. He was well-known in the school for his antics. I thought kids like him were useless and would grow up to become the scum of society. Then the discipline teacher chose him to become a prefect. I was really shocked and still did not regard him highly, being on the board myself. However, I was eventually able to see the good qualities in him and since then, I have had nothing but respect for him.We tend to blindly regard people who behave outside our standard of behaviour to be scum. We always want to punish the so-called bad guys too eagerly. Many times, we fail to see and accept other people's good qualities.I'm not suggesting all bad boys may be good. But stop saying the Mat Rempit do not deserve a second chance. Putera Umno is giving them a second chance. Why object? Those who take up the offer today may have their lives changed forever. They may still become useful citizens who will eventually do their parents and country proud.Petreksw

Camp for Mat RempitBy GRACE CHENWhat to do if you're on a tight budget? Consider going for a camping trip with the Kap Chai King, Wazi Abdul Hamid, 36.The veteran motorcycle racer is combining a motorbike safety riding programme with time-off at the beach for only RM20. The two-day XNak Rempit XNak Dadah (Say no to illegal racing and drugs) program is organised by former illegal racers out to spread the word on safety riding.Wazi, a former illegal racer himself during his teens, says that the session would be targeted at those aged between 16 to 25 years.Understandably, no mat rempit will want to attend another lecture on the ills and dangers of street racing. But then Wazi is a hero to these guys and he knows how to push the right buttons. As it is, Wazi has even made a guest appearance in the film Remp-It ealier this year. And to show how he puts the message across, he uses the last meet at Robina Beach , which had 100 participants, in Butterworth in July as an example. The scene saw a convergence of everything on two wheels from super bikes to scooters. One biker who had burnt a cylinder head during the journey also made it. He had his buddies to tow him for the remaining 100km till he reached the location. For accommodation, participants will sleep in tents. Food will also be provided.“The idea is to get all these biking groups together so that we can achieve a sense of camaraderie with everyone. This helps to curb the hostility between them and you’d have less fights this way,” explains Wazi referring to the public fracas reported in the press recently.Among the social highlights of the program includes a beach barbecue, a rock climbing session and a religious talk conducted by an ustaz.“There are no heavy issues being brought up here. This ustaz is also a biker himself and his main focus will be to motivate the participants by talking about the wonders of life,” says Wazi.Sounds nice and safe doesn’t it? But don’t forget that this is a programme for the mat rempits out there. And yes, there will be racing involved. The theory session, conducted by Wazi himself, will feature show and tell sessions on bike modifications for racing. These sessions according to Wazi, are of great interest to any an avid biker. In addition, participants will get an insight into the different categories of motorbike racing. And aspiring riders will get to pit their skills against each other on five MZ bikes. Inevitably, the participants will have to take turns but then it’s not everyday that you’d have a racing star to show you how it’s done. And at the end of the course, certificates will be given out.“This is the most serious part of the programme where we separate the real racers from the wannabes. And I think everyone knows how committed riders need to be to become pro. We’ll prove that all those street races have amounted to nothing. If you want to be a racer, then you do it the proper way,” says Wazi. But the main message that Wazi will be stressing in this programme is that illegal racing is not the way to go.“If you want to go to a racetrack, never be Superman. Don’t be fearless. If you think you are not afraid to fall and get scarred, you cannot be a racer,” he maintains. Those interested in joining Wazi’s safety riding program can contact him at 012-521 1553. This programme is supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry.
Time to rein in Mat Rempit menaceI WAS taking my family for an outing to the Sungei Klah Hot Spring on Nov 26, when I saw a group of about 30 youngsters on motorbikes zigzagging on the road without helmets doing “professional” stunts. It frightened me, not to mention my young niece and nephew. We were scared that we might accidentally bump into them and get pelted with stones.I do hope the authorities will do something about it as we have been promoting this wonderful place and with such nuisances around, it would be a pity if the tourists are scared off.Another incident occurred today during lunch at Jalan Ampang near the AIA building. I saw a bunch of school kids on motorbikes smeared with some white substance that looked like flour gathering near the traffic lights, without helmets on.What's the problem with these youngsters? Please stop encouraging the Mat Rempit any further. Why not give them some skills training during the holidays? Or organise some free and enjoyable workshops for them?Juliestar

PULAU REDANG

SYNOPSIS

Around Pulau Pangkor
But you may want to see some attractions on the Malaysian mainland. No problem here too. In the vicinity there are some attractions worth to see.
Taiping, Lake Gardens, a magnificent view in the early morning
Think of the mining city of Taiping, the Royal City of Kuala Kangsar or the capital of Perak: Ipoh with Kellies Castle nearby. The coastal area is full of fishing villages like Pantai Remis and if you are lucky, you may even get an experience like I had in Panchor.
Inlands you will find the little town of Kampar with the Gua Tempurung caves which is seldom visited but offer quite some interesting things.
Visit some of the fish farms around Pulau Pangkor, for example at Damar Laut (few people, if any ever visit this area just opposite of Lumut. Many people forget Teluk Senangin. I know, it's a little out from Lumut, but it's totally unspoiled.
Stingray in the waters of Sembilan Islands
For a few ringit, the fishermen are happy to show you around. And when you buy the fish you can ask your restaurant to prepare for the fish for you. And on the mainland you can visit some beautifully preserved Mangrove forests.
Visit for example the beautiful Chinese cemeteries near Lumut and Seri Manjung while you go for some shopping in Sitiawan.
In fact, Pangkor has for everyone, something. Maybe you like to hang out on one the beaches, or you are more into activities (try to find Teluk Segadas!). Do you have an interest in history or temples, anyone can have their share. Whatever you imagine, Pangkor has it! (ok ok.. maybe not for EVERYBODY, no disco's here....).

Local Radar
Detailed Forecast

I visit the island almost on a weekly base, after all, I live so close by. And even after more then 3 years, I still see new things, new places, even new beaches. Pulau Pangkor deserves, as I wrote earlier the name "beautiful island" for 100%. If you come with a family (see Nazlina's report) or independent, (Irina and Jonathans' story ) you will find something special. Pangkor is lovely, let hope we can keep it that way!
Other Islands in Malaysia
Although this website focuses on Pangkor, there are many more islands in Malaysia. On this website we elaborate a little more on the following islands, as we think they too are worth a visit: Penang, Langkawi, Perhentian, Redang and Tioman. Of course we give information about diving facilities, but also for Penang we have real estate and land properties available.
And, as you already expect, for all the islands we have sorted out our favorite hotels.
By now you understand it, I love this little Malaysia island with the name Pangkor! Come to Pangkor and we may even meet! And if you don't have time to visit Pangkor, well, visit at least one of the other beautiful Malaysian islands.
Yours Peter
